Bananas

The banana is a fruit that is found all year. In Portugal, it comes from Madeira Island and in Spain from the Canary Islands.
The banana highlights by being a good source of potassium and providing energy; it is sweet and easy to digest, favoring bowel transit processes because of its high fiber content.

The banana is the fruit that has been part of my diet since my childhood.
When it is ripe, the skin has an old-looking, it is time to eat it.

Papaya

The papaya is another tropical fruit, which we are already used to seeing in the fruit shops. It is a fruit rich in vitamin C; it is tasty and favors the digestive process and the bowel transit. In fact, it is for this benefit on bowel transit the reason why it has increased its consumption.

Among my friends, it is very common that they tell me that they eat a piece of papaya for breakfast. The funny thing is that when a fruit becomes fashionable, people forget that we have many others that are locally produced and are equally efficient.
And this is owing to the fact that they aren´t used to eating fresh fruits and vegetables.

Pineapple, a delicious tropical fruit

As we enter spring, we begin to see new fruits together with the traditional ones like bananas, oranges, pears, lemons, mandarins or grapes. Among them, it highlights the pineapple, a tropical fruit that is already part of our Mediterranean tradition, the same as the banana, among other examples.
In Portugal, the pineapple or ananá comes from the Azores (Ananás dos Açores D.O) and the banana comes from Madeira Island.
The pineapple is rich in water, vitamin C and it is deliciously sweet. It is  ideal as a dessert or to start the day as a part of breakfast.

Fruits are very important in any type of diet and, as well as, bring us color and with it comes nutrients that improve our state of health.
