Peanuts, from the land of cocoa

◼  Peanuts are part of the nuts that, by tradition, we consume more in the winter seasons.
Although, really, it is about legumes since their seeds are enclosed in a pod like peas or beans, the way we consume them is toasted and along with other mixed nuts.
That´s the reason why we consider peanuts as nuts of hard shell like almonds or hazelnuts.

Mediterranean Savor: Nuts

One of the most evident properties of nuts is its energy supply; that´s why its consumption increases during the winter.
Another property, and really very important, is that they are a source of vitamin E, a powerful cell regenerator.
In the past, nuts available were almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts and pine nuts, without forgetting us, besides, chestnuts, cooked or roasted, so popular when autumn begins, at least in the areas of the north both in Spain and Portugal.
Nowadays, we have access to other varieties of hard shell fruits that come from the four corners of the earth, with the information that they are varieties with better properties, which is simply a good sales technique; since what we have in our area provide us with everything we need and they are sources of nutrients of excellent quality.

Mediterranean Savor: Dates

Dates are one of the fruits that characterize Mediterranean cuisine. They are part of the desserts in the wintry season, especially when holidays are celebrated, in both Spain and Portugal.

Mediterranean Savor: dried apricots

Dried apricots are an excellent source of minerals, such as potassium and iron, and vitamin A (pro-vitamin A).
In summer we have fresh apricots and for winter dried apricots, dehydrated apricots.
